NEW TOPICAL BLENDS ANTIFUNGAL, COSMETIC AND NAIL RENEWAL AGENTS

A new topical agent, Tolcylen – a combination antifungal-cosmetic nail renewal medcation has been circling the market. Tolcylen was launched in January and is designed to treat onychomycosis and other nail pathologies that have become resistant to treatment. The solution consists of a mix of ingredients including: tolnaftate 1%, undercylenic acid 25%, urea, lactic acid and propylene glycol and joboa oil and vitamin E. The tolnaftate and undercylenic acid help tackle the fungal infection, the urea, lactic acid and propylene glycol help to soften, thin and lighten discoloured nails and the jojoba oil and vitamin E help to moisturize and promote healthy nail growth. This antifungal agent is better than over the counter topical antifungals as it is alcohol based instead of oil based to help penetrate the nail bed. 80% of patientswith toenail fungus have seen significant improvement within 6-12 weeks of use.
