Football player Hollywood Brown missed pre-season training camp because he had Lisfranc surgery. Noman A. Siddiqui, DPM from the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics explained, "Lisfranc refers to where the front part meets the middle part of the foot. The ligament on the bottom of the foot gets effectively stretched out in a stage 1 injury. In a stage 2 injury, it may be stretched out and partially torn. In stage 3, it avulses and breaks off the bone. In that stage, the patient may need surgery."

"This is not something like an Achilles injury where there is a lot of re-occurence with or without surgery. This is something that is tolerated well," says Dr. Siddiqui.
