PODIATRIST DISCUSSES OPTIONS FOR HALLUX RIGIDUS
posted: Jan. 04, 2020.
According to Douglas Tumen, DPM of Hudson Valley Foot Associates, "There are many approaches to the treatment of hallux rigidus. Implants are one method, another would be a fusion, and a cheilectomy is another. Of course, prior to that are conservative treatments such as injections and change of footwear."

"In our practice, we do more fusions than implants. Implants tend to wear out and don't provide great function. It is, however, an academic choice made by the surgeon," says Dr. Tumen.
