PODIATRIST DISCUSSES HOW TO AVOID STRESS FRACTURES
posted: Nov. 19, 2019.
“You might not have had an injury, but you could still get a stress fracture, which is microscopic damage to the bone,” says Velimir Petkov, DPM, a board-certified podiatrist with Premier Podiatry in Clifton, New Jersey. “You can get them by wearing flip-flops, sandals, or shoes that fail to provide sufficient cushioning and shock absorption. Walking, jumping, running, or even standing for extended periods of time can cause stress fractures.”
