TORONTO PODIATRIST OFFERS CHILDREN'S SHOE-BUYING TIPS

TORONTO PODIATRIST, MR. HARTLEY MILTCHIN STATES, "FINDING THE RIGHT KIDS' SHOES IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS WHAT YOU PUT IN THEIR LUNCH BAGS.  IF THE SHOE DOESN'T HAVE A REMOVABLE INSOLE, USE YOUR THUMB TO PRESS ON THE TOE BOX TO GET A FEEL FOR WHERE THE TOES ARE.  THERE SHOULDN'T BE MORE THAN A THUMB'S WIDTH BETWEEN THE LONGEST TOE AND THE END OF THE SHOE.  TAKE NOTE THAT THE BIG TOE IS NOT NECESSARILY THE LONGEST TOE.  PARENTS MAY BE PUSHING DOWN ON THE BIG TOE WHEN THEIR CHILD MAY ACTUALLY HAVE A LONGER SECOND OR THIRD TOE.  A SHOE SHOULD FIT PERFECTLY RIGHT FROM THE START.  IF THE SHOE NEEDS A 'BREAKING IN' PERIOD TO FEEL COMFORTABLE, THEN IT MEANS THAT YOU'VE CHOSEN A SHOE THAT MAY POTENTIALLY CAUSE DAMAGE."

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT ACADEMY FOOT AND ORTHOTIC CLINIC PRIDES ITSELF WITH IS THAT WE SPEND A LOT OF TIME EDUCATING OUR PATIENTS  ABOUT PROPER FOOT WEAR, ETC.

IF YOU OR A LOVED ONE REQUIRES HONEST, COMPETENT FOOT CARE OR HIGH QUALITY CUSTOM ORTHOTIC, PLEASE CONTACT US AT 416-465-8737.

BROUGHT TO YOU BY DR. JOHN A. HARDY, OWNER OF ACADEMY FOOT AND ORTHOTIC CLINICS.
