FOR ALL YOU HOCKEY AND SKATING ENTHUSIASTS, ROLLER BLADING OR INLINE SKATING IS A GREAT WAY TO EXTEND YOUR SPORT YEAR ROUND.  WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED SO FAR THIS YEAR WITH SUMMER WEATHER STARTING IN WINTER.  THE ADVANTAGE OF ROLLAR BLADING OVER JOGGING IS THAT THE STRESS AND POUNDING IS GREATLY REDUCED IN YOUR JOINTS, ESPECIALLY YOUR KNEES.  YOU ALSO CAN TRAVEL AS FAST AS A BIKE AND CAN THERFORE TRAVEL MUCH FARTHER OVER A GIVEN PERIOD OF TIME THAN JOGGING.  I CAN TRAVEL FROM BROADVIEW AND DANFORTH ALONG THE BIKE PATH IN THE DON VALLEY  TO THE CN TOWER AND BACK IN 40 MINUTES OR LESS.

MOST FOOT SPECIALIST, INCLUDING FOOT DOCTORS, CHIROPODISTS AND PODIATRISTS AGREE THAT YOUR PERFORMANCE, COMFORT, BALANCE AND ENERGY CONSERVATION WILL BE IMPROVED IF YOU HAVE CUSTOM ORTHOTICS IN YOUR SKATE.  THESE CAN USUALLY BE INTERCHANGEABLE FROM YOUR ICE SKATE, SKI BOOT AND INLINE SKATE.  ALSO DON'T FORGET TO WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR SUCH AS HELMET, AND WRIST GAURDS SO YOU DON'T BREAK YOUR WRISTS IF YOU FALL.  KNEE PADS AND ELBOW PADS SHOULD ALSO BE WORN, DEPENDING ON YOU LEVEL OF SKILL.
