DOWNTOWN TORONTO FOOT SPECIALIST DISCUSSES ORTHOTICS - PART 2

Academy Foot and Orthotic Clinics has been prescribing custom orthotics since 1980.  This clinic was founded by Dr. John A. Hardy who is a Chiropractor and knows the importance of proper posture and correct alignment.  Your posture starts from your feet.  If there is a structural imbalance in your foot than every structure and joint above the feet will be affected.  Structure governs function and therefore everything from foot problems, ankle, knee, hip and spinal problems could be caused by foot imbalances.  Think of it this way, if the foundation of your house is not level, etc., it affect the entire house in one way or another, usually negatively.

Fortunately as Foot Specialists we have an aid to correct this imbalance known as orthotics.  In our Foot Clinic we try to think outside the box and not just focus on the foot but think about the foot in relation to the entire body.  Every part of our body is interconnected with the rest and  can have profound effects on parts far removed.  Most people can benefit from custom orthotics as they are preventative.  You should not wait till you have a problem and then try to correct it when permanent damage may have already have been done.

In our Foot Clinic we employ all three methods of casting: foam, plaster and 3D non-weight bearing computerized laser.  The method of choice is the laser, it is more accurate and the information is sent directly to the lab which provides a much faster turnaround time for the product and thus the patient receives the orthotic sooner.

The effects of wearing custom orthotics can be profound.  I have had patients receive custom orthotics and never have back, knee, ankle, etc. pain again.  If you think that you may benefit from orthotics, please contact our Foot Clinic at 416-465-8737 for honest, competent advice and or treatment.
