TORONTO PODIATRIST ROBERT CHELIN, WHOM WE HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING RECENTLY AT THE APMA SCIENTIFIC MEETING IN WASHINGTON DC,  WAS INTERVIEWED BY THE TORONTO STAR LAST WEEK.   HE STATES THAT HIS MOST MEMORABLE PATIENT WAS "THERE WAS ONE YOUNG LADY WHO WANTED TO GET MARRIED ON THE BEACH.  SHE HAD BRACHYMETATARSALGIA: HER FOURTH TOE DIDN'T FORM PROPERLY, SO THEY LOOKED LIKE MINI TOES, AND SHE WAS EMBARRASSED TO TAKE OFF HER SHOES IN PUBLIC.

WE FIXED IT USING A PROCEDURE WHERE YOU BREAK THE TOE AND THEN PUT IN A CONTRAPTION THAT LOOKS LIKE A STRETCHING UNIT.  YOU TIGHTEN THE SCREWS ON A QUARTER TURN SO THAT, AS THE FRACTURE TRIES TO HEAL ON ITS OWN, YOU PULL IT APART AGAIN.  WE MADE THE TOE GROW ABOUT ONE AND A HALF CENTIMETERS.  SHE HAD HER BEACH WEDDING AND SENT ME THE PICTURES."

BROUGHT TO YOU BY DR. HARDY AND MARZ HARDY, D.Ch., B.Sc., PODIATRIC MEDICINE, TORONTO FOOT SPECIALIST AND TORONTO CHIROPODIST AND THE TEAM FROM ACADEMY FOOT AND ORTHOTIC CLINICS.

Academy Clinics has a special interest in high quality custom orthotics.
