WAYS TO REDUCE AMPUTATIONS IN DIABETICS

Podiatrist, Dr. Chris Kassarisstates, "According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, diabetes account for non-traumatic lower-limb amputation cases by 60 percent. This has been revealed in the 2014 National Diabetes Statistics Report. Individuals suffering from diabetes may significantly reduce their risk of amputations by simply discussing their condition with a foot specialist.  There are ways to reduce such a risk like practicing a regular foot care regimen. This allows sufferers to see if problems are taking place and stop them from getting severe. They should inspect their feet every day and look for cuts, bruises, toenail discoloration, or sores in their feet. When they suffer from a wound, it is imperative that they consult their foot specialist before an infection even starts to develop."
