PODIATRIST TO BE INDUCTED INTO INTERNATIONAL SWIMMING HALL OF FAME

Marcy MacDonald, a podiatrist from Andover now holds the American record for her 16th swim crossing of the English Channel making history. She will be inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.

MacDonald was recently trying to attempt to swim from England to Belgium, a 52 mile swim, which had never been attempted before but was unable to due to an injury to her left shoulder caused by rapid waves. MacDonald states "I have been hit/thrown enough times that my left latissimus dorsi muscle was pulled/over strained". This caused MacDonald to only be able to swim with her right arm for another 2 and 1/2 hours till she could land on the French coast.

MacDonald is also the fifth person, and the first American to swim the 23 mile length of the Loch Ness in 11 hours. On new year's eve she also swam across Tampa Bay in 9 hours and 13 minutes.

MacDonald is an inspiring swimmer, role model and podiatrist.
