PODIATRIST PROVIDES BACK TO SCHOOL SHOE BUYING TIPS

Backpacks, notebooks, and markers may be an important part of your child’s back-to-school shopping list, but nothing is more important than buying comfortable, well-fitting shoes. “Always have your child’s feet measured before you buy a pair of shoes,” said Dr. James Hirt, of Fenton Foot Care. “That means you’ll want to visit a shoe store that offers measuring and fitting services, and you’ll want your child with you to try different shoes on for size. Each brand’s sizing is different from another. No two brands fit alike.”

He also suggests that families do their shoe-shopping later in the day, when their feet are their largest from swelling. “You always buy for the larger foot,” he added. “Feet are seldom precisely the same size.”
