PODIATRIST DISCUSSES WHY STILETTOS CREATE SEXY APPEARANCE...AND DAMAGE TO FEET

Podiatrist Dr. Marlene Reid states, "thankfully, we’re seeing more flat shoes (especially lace-up Oxfords) in fashion magazines, on blogs, and on the runway. That said, stilettos will remain popular because many people find them sexy. Your calf muscles are contracted so they get more defined. Stilettos also lengthen the leg."

Podiatrist Reid also states, "in short, yup, they make your legs look sexier than flats, wedges, or kitten heels. I see women in their 20s wearing them. I tell them just wait till your early 30s. They can cause all kinds of problems, like stress fractures. They’re not good for people. You’re going to wear down the padding at the ball of the foot, and it can never come back. I see many women walking in stilettos, and they look as if they’re in excruciating pain. And that, my friends, is not sexy."

Dr. Hardy's Toronto Foot Clinic, Academy foot and Orthotic Clinics never recommends to women that they wear high heels as the toe box is usually too small making all the toes to be compressed as well all the weight of the body is displaced to the forefoot.  This is a very unhealthy situation where damage to the foot is inevitable with prolonged use.  That is the reason that women consult Podiatrists, Chiropodists, Foot Doctors and Foot Specialists 4 times more than men.
