Foot issues are often associated with aging and certain chronic diseases, but Dr. Christopher Peteros’ patient population has ranged in age from children to adults into their 90s during his more than 25 years in practice.

A common foot condition seen is a neuroma, sometimes called a Morton’s neuroma, “which is a sharp pain between the third and fourth toes most often” and caused by tissue that becomes thick around a nerve leading to a toe. “Morton’s neuroma treatment many include a cortisone shot to shrink the nerve or alcohol injections to damage the nerve and make it stop feeling pain, or nerve decompression surgery where I make a small, half-inch incision that can be done somewhat noninvasively,” Peteros said.
