A new device and app are taking blood glucose testing into the realm of iPhones and iPads. Yes, there's an app for that. The iBGStar® is a blood glucose meter that plugs in to your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad. It's designed specifically "to easily display, manage, and communicate your diabetes information." Dr. Richard Jacobyof Scottsdale Neuropathy showed 3TV's Stella Inger how it works.

Jacoby said the iBGStar is particularly good for people with pre-diabetes, a condition affecting 79 million people. "Fifty percent of people over age 65 are pre-diabetic," Jacoby added. "The important thing about this is that it logs the amount of sugar you have in your blood dependent on the meals that you eat," Jacoby said.
