Foot Exercises Increase General Health, NYSPMA Says

foot exerciseIf you are one of the many people starting new workout routines this year, the New York State Podiatric Medical Association wants you to know that it’s important to exercise your feet along with the rest of your body. NYSPMA states that you have to have strong feet in order to work out, and that healthy feet are typically less likely to become diseased.

To that end, the NYSPMA has some helpful advice. They suggest that you take steps to ensure that all your shoes fit right, such as buying new shoes during the second half of the day, which is when most people’s feet become slightly swollen. NYSPMA states that workouts like toe squeezes and toe points can be very beneficial, and that you should massage the feet before and after you exercise.

Exercising your feet is an investment in your future health. For questions about how to properly exercise your feet and ankles, speak to chiropodist Marz Hardy of Academy Foot and Orthotic Clinics. Marz Hardy can explain the benefits of strengthening the feet and suggest simple routines for you to do.

Exercise for Your Feet

Exercise for your feet can help you to gain strength, mobility and flexibility in your feet. They say that strengthening your feet can be just as rewarding as strengthening another part of the body. Your feet are very important and often we forget about them in our daily tasks. But it is because of our feet that are we able to get going and do what we need to. For those of us fortunate not to have any foot problems, it is an important gesture to take care of them to ensure its good health in the long run.

Some foot health exercises can include ankle pumps, tip-toeing, toe rise, lifting off the floor doing reps and sets, also flexing the toes and involving the shins may help too. It is best to speak with your doctor regarding how to do these fitness steps and how often is right for you. Everyone’s needs are different and it varies from individual to individual what should be done to maintain strength in your feet.
