FLIP FLOPS NOT FOR EXTENDED WEAR

Podiatrists are warning against wearing flip-flops as your permanent pair of shoes as they could be costing you your health. Podiatrist Jemma Riddiford said, particularly in the summer months, podiatrists such as herself recognized the temptation to wear thongs full-time. "If you're going to be doing any extended periods of standing or walking, it's better to wear a stronger pair of shoes that will support the feet," she said.

"The more supported and enclosed the feet are, the less prone you are to developing overuse conditions such as plantar fasciitis, tendinitis, and the like. There's also less chance of sustaining injuries from the elements, and corns, callus, and cracks growing. It's all about being sensible and protecting the feet."
