FLIP FLOPS ARE MORE DANGEROUS THAN HIGH HEELS

Podiatrists say that the  quest for comfort over glamour may be resulting in worse injuries in the long-term and flip-flops may be the worst choice of all. "Frankly, flip-flops are dangerous," says Dr. Tariq Khan, a consultant podiatrist at the Marigold Clinic, University College Hospital London NHS Foundation Trust. "They are the most flimsy, unsupportive piece of footwear you can wear."

According to Dr. Khan, plantar fasciitis is common in those who spend their lives in flat shoes of any sort - but flip-flops are the worst offenders. "The fact that you have to grip them on with your toes puts a lot of tension and pressure through your toes and arches," he says.
