FISH PEDICURE CAUSES WOMAN TO LOSE ALL HER TOES

A fish pedicure often involves individuals dipping their feet in a tub filled with small fish which remove the dead particles/skin from your feet. However, this fish pedicure has proven to have some adverse effects for individuals. An Australian woman had all her toes amputated on her right foot after receiving a fish pedicure in Thailand in 2010.

Victoria Curthoys has been forced to remove all her toes on her right foot after receiving this pedicure. In 2006 Curthoys had a bone infection after walking on broken glass. When placing her feet in the fish water tank, Curthoys previous surgery wounds became infected as the water had been contaminated with water-borne diseases.

Following her fish pedicure, Curthoys had been very ill and was diagnosed shortly after with osteomyelitis. Osteomyelitis is a serious condition involving infection of the bone in some cases leading to amputation. Unfortunately for Curthoys, amputation was her only option. Curthoys lost her last toe in November 2017. As fish pedicures are found to have health concerns associated with them they have been banned from many countries including Canada and Europe. If you or a loved one is travelling to another country, getting a fish pedicure is not recommended due to the health risks associated with it.
