DAILY STRETCHING CAN PREVENT MANY FOOT PROBLEMS

Dr. John Sigle recommends daily stretching as a preventative technique. “Calf muscle stretching is very useful in the prevention and treatment of many foot problems. Stretching can help lengthen and ease the contraction of the muscle that can cause pain and injury. Excessive tightness of the calf muscles can contribute to many foot and some knee problems," says Sigle.

"A key point of injury is the Achilles tendon, which attaches the calf muscle to the back of the heel. When the calf muscle tightens up, it limits the movement of the ankle joint. There is a wide range of stretches that can be useful. Some of the more common methods can be achieved through a runner's stretch or yoga," says Sigle.
