ARGENTINE SOCCER STAR NEEDS TO STRETCH TO PREVENT INJURIES

Lionel Messi is back. The Argentine star is in training for Barcelona after recovering from his adductor injury and is in line to play some part in the Catalans' Liga clash against Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday. "Messi is a very explosive player whose game features quick bursts of pace," sports podiatrist Mirja Marco told Goal International. "That means he needs to do a lot of stretching because those bursts and sprints, starting and stopping, affect him greatly in terms of his muscle insertions.

"He is a player with a low center of gravity, and he operates at great speed. So he needs to take great care and also work on prevention - especially because he is obliged to make long intercontinental journeys in several competitions and has hardly any rest."
